Springfield Preschool

Parent Letter

     10/12/26

 Dear Parents,

The color of the month for October will be Orange!  We are glad you chose Springfield School District.  We invite you to enjoy the HOMECOMING events this week.   In a small community like ours, even the preschool gets into the spirit.  WELCOME TO SPRINGFIELD SCHOOL DISTRICT!

We are finishing  October count.  We don’t ever stress perfect attendance at the preschool level, but we do take attendance daily.  We appreciate it when you let us know when your child is going to be absent.

Family Engagement activities this month will include 1st Quarter Culmination later this week.  We would ask you to join us for 15-20 minutes so your kiddos can show you what they have learned the first quarter!  You are also welcome to place a Scholastic book order (GRXZC), volunteer in your child’s classroom, and/or host a class party.

Preschool picture orders went home last week.  Retakes are October 14.

General Health Appraisals were due Sept. 24th, 30 days from enrollment, so that means if you HAVE NOT turned in your child’s current General Health Appraisal, he/she will be excluded from preschool until you have turned it in.  We have placed a separate note to those whom we are missing.

Flu Clinics are being held throughout the county this month.  Please contact your local PCP or the Baca Public Health Agency for more information.  See enclosed information from PCPHA, and the flyer on FLU.

Scholastic Book Orders will be ordered from preschool each month.   You can place your order online!  You just need to use this Online Code:  GRXZC for Springfield Preschool.  We will still get the bonus points for your order!  Let us know if you need help. September book orders were delivered last week.

FYI:

FIRE SAFETY—This month we are studying Fire Safety.  The Springfield Volunteer Firemen and fire truck will be visiting preschool next week and we will teach practice fire drills.  “Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower” focuses on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.

Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.

NO PRESCHOOL— Preschool will NOT meet October 21 so that our team can attend Lester Gentzler’s funeral.  Ms. Carolyn volunteered at SPS for 30 years.  We will honor her by our presence.  Thank you for understanding.

Preschool Teacher work day/Checkpoints-Preschool will NOT meet Oct. 22.

THERAPY GROUPS—Speech and Motor groups are up and running!  We appreciate the BOCES specialists:  Tiffany West back is our Preschool Speech Therapist, with support from Jill Negrete, SLP.  Julie Thompson, COTA, will also be in a couple days each week for Motor Group. Ms. Deb is in each class a couple of times each week.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES—October 29 at Preschool.  There will be NO Preschool on Thursday, October 22 as we prepare for conferences, and again on Thursday, October 29 so we can share the evidence we have gathered for your child/children.  We will post a sign up sheet by your child’s sign in book.  You can sign up for a time that works for you.  PLEASE MAKE YOUR OWN APPOINTMENT.  We strive for 100% participation.

HOLIDAY PARTIES--If you want to plan a Halloween Party it will have to be on Tuesday or Wednesday, 10/27 or 10/28.   As stated in our Parent Handbook, teachers do not plan holiday parties.  Parents are welcome to.  We welcome you to send your kids in costume….but they often take them off within a half hour or so.

LOST, FOUND, BORROWED—Please return any clothes &/or toys that may have ended up at your house.  Please label your child’s clothes & toys that come to preschool……WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!

THANK YOU:

* Ryann Smith donated 5 gallons of Milo from Skyland Grain for our sensory tables.

* Tawnie Coast volunteered in Preschool last week while our teachers were out of town.

We hope you enjoyed your first month in our preschool!

Have a wonderful month!
