Congratulations to Beau Dukes, University of Northern Colorado student and Springfield graduate, for being awarded UNC’s 2021 Annual Chemistry Award. The staff at Springfield Schools is proud of Beau’s academic accomplishments. As a high school student, Beau took full advantage of the college preparatory classes SHS offers. He writes, “Mr. Walker sets students up for success. I credit him for being successful in all my science courses at a collegiate level.” Great work, Beau!

At this time the Elementary Yearbook staff working on the 2020 COVID edition and the 2021 Elementary Yearbook editions are unable to complete their work due to unforeseen circumstances. The good news is that orders can be accepted for a few more weeks than previously advertised. 3rd Grade parents/guardians should be getting an order form when those students are allowed to return to school. There is a possibility we will not be able to get them printed and back to students before school closes for the summer. The staff is regretful, but we remain dedicated to delivering the last few editions of the Elementary Yearbooks!

This past month the students have enjoyed playing Book Bingo. This encouraged the students to read different types of books that they normally would not read. Students received a prize for every bingo they achieved. To achieve credit they must have passed the AR test for that book. Students also played for blackout and this prize was a $5 gift card. To achieve a blackout the students had to read 24 books. We had 3 students complete 2 blackout cards. They were from the second grade Reniah Aguilar and Nevaeh Estrada and from the fifth grade Jersey Speck. We also had 7 other students achieve one blackout and they are as follows: 2nd grade: Addison Piper, Waco Herbert and Easton Hinds; 3rd grade: Blake Figgins and the 5th grade: Jaden Grigat, Gintri Shaw, Cobi Mackey and Rhett Bray. Congratulations to all these students and thank you to the others who participated. The students stated they were excited to do this again. -Ms. Priscilla
