Due to forecasted weather the junior high track meet in Tribune on Friday, April 10th has been cancelled. It will not be rescheduled.

First year Ag students traveled to Kim to participate in the FFA District Quizbowl competition. The Springfield team containing: Hailey Mason, Tyler Mackey, and Cutter Roberson were the District Champions winning through the bracket and will be representing our FFA District at the State Convention in June.

Springfield FBLA Compete at State

The Springfield High School FBLA Chapter attended the Colorado State Conference at the Gaylord Resort in Denver on April 2-4, 2026. Fourteen students competed in seven different events. President Thomas Schmidt and Historian Rylan Smith competed in Business Management; Dakota Reid, Electronic Career Portfolio; Braelyn Rosengrants and Drew George in Introduction to Business Concepts; Vice President Parker Arbuthnot, Public Speaking; and Team Glenn Cogburn, Brennan Rothman and Jacob Burdick in Banking and Financial Systems; Team Rogan Smith, Cobi Mackey and Jersey Speck in Entrepreneurship; and Braylee Dukes and BriLynn Jackson in Customer Service, a roll play event.

Dakota Reid placed fourth in her event—Career Portfolio and Parker Arbuthnot placed third in Public Speaking. Both Dakota and Parker will advance to Nationals to compete with students all over the United States. The FBLA National Convention is June 28 through July 2 in San Antonio. The two will then fly home on July 3rd with their advisor, Mrs. Kathy Self.

The Springfield Chapter has 22 members. Their competition includes events in computer skills, accounting skills, personal finance, speaking and ag business to name a few.

Congratulations to junior, Parker Arbuthnot, for breaking the 800-meter school record at the meet in Limon on April 4th. He ran the 800 in 2:01.03. The previous record of 2:01.06 was set in 2000 by his uncle, Cameron Arbuthnot. Way to go Parker!

Coach Hunter will be hosting clinics for all students who will be in 8th-12th grade next year. Clinics are designed to prepare you for tryouts and will be held on April 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th and 20th at 6:30 p.m. Tryouts will be April 25th.
