PSA: Today (12/06/24), Baca County Emergency Management is hosting a multi-agency live training exercise at Springfield School District. The public may hear loud noises, emergency lights and sirens, and see a large police, fire, EMS, and flight for life presence. The exercise will conclude no later than 12pm today. Please do not be alarmed, but do stay clear of the area. Remember to only call 911 for true emergencies.

Congratulations to our William Jimeno Essay Contest winners: Satchel Knight, 1st Place; Harmonee Birdsong, 2nd Place; and Taylor Bland, 3rd Place. They reflected meaningfully on Mr. Jimeno's story of bravery, faith, love, and hope.

Congratulations to the junior high and high school cheer squads for placing 4th in their respective categories at the SECO Cheer Invitational on Saturday.
Congrats also to Brody Rosengrants for winning the jump off competition for the 3rd year in a row! Freshmen, Braelyn Rosengrants came in as runner-up!






Springfield will be hosting the 24th Annual R.L. Ballard Basketball Tournament on December 6th and 7th. Ticket Prices: Adults - $6.00, Students and Senior Citizens - $4.00; Only CHSAA and CHSCA passes will be accepted. The tournament helps to raise money for the Springfield Scholarship Fund. FCCLA and FBLA will be running a full concession stand throughout the tournament. We will also be holding a food drive to benefit the Baca County Food Bank.

Springfield students participated in the Ogallala Commons Youth Entreprenurial Fair in La Junta today. The Youth Entrepreneur Fair (E-Fair) is a morning-to-afternoon event in which youth entrepreneurs submit a business plan for a “conceptual” or a “ready-to-go” enterprise (two different categories). Individual or entrepreneur teams are awarded cash prizes by a group of judges.
All of the students represented Springfield well. Congratulations to Parker Arbuthnot for being selected High School Overall Champion! Great Job Longhorns!

Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports (CCGS) Press Release:
Springfield High School’s Bay Ellis has been chosen to participate in the Colorado Coaches of Girls’ Sports (CCGS) All-State Volleyball games. Senior athletes are nominated by their leagues and selected by coaches throughout the state for the honor.
The CCGS All-State games will be played on Sunday, November 23, 2024, at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. The 1A game will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by the other divisions. CCGS began sponsoring an All-State Volleyball Game in 1970 to provide girls a showcase for talent. Players are chosen based on talent, dedication, team play, and leadership. Great Job Bay!

The Walsh Junior High Basketball Tournament will be held on Saturday, November 23rd.
Admission: $5.00-Adults, $3.00-Students (K-12) and Sr. Citizens; CHSAA passes will not be accepted.
A concession stand will be available; however, food and drinks are NOT allowed in the gym.
All games will consist of (2) 20-minute halves and a 3-minute halftime. A running clock will be used unless the game is within 10 points in the last minute.
