Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports (CCGS) Press Release: Springfield High School’s Lainee Leathers has been chosen to participate in the Colorado Coaches of Girls’ Sports (CCGS) All-State Volleyball games. Senior athletes are nominated by their leagues and selected by coaches throughout the state for the honor. Additionally, Lainee was named the 2023 Arkansas Valley League Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year. She is a four-year letter winner and a three-year all-conference selection. Lainee is the daughter of Jared and Jennifer Leathers. The CCGS All-State games will be played on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. The 1A game will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by the other divisions. CCGS began sponsoring an All-State Volleyball Game in 1970 to provide girls a showcase for talent. Players are chosen based on talent, dedication, team play, and leadership. Great Job Lainee!

The 5th grade participated in the Baca County Conservation District Poster contest. The theme was "One Water ". The students learned so much from the program, such as how to conserve water and about water sheds. The students are so grateful they were able to learn and use their creativity! Each student who participated got $5 just for entering their poster. Kallysa Schroder came by and awarded the participants their $5 this week. Winners will be announced next week.

The Walsh Junior High Basketball Tournament will be held on Saturday, November 18th. Admission: $5.00-Adults, $3.00-Students (K-12) and Sr. Citizens; CHSAA passes will not be accepted. A concession stand will be available; however, food and drinks are NOT allowed in the gym. All games will consist of (2) 20-minute halves and a 3-minute halftime. A running clock will be used unless the game is within 10 points in the last minute.

Schedule Change
The cross country teamed battled freezing temperatures and a talented field of runners today at the state meet in Colorado Springs. Senior, Mylo Lovejoy led the team to a 14th overall finish with an exciting tie breaker against Centauri. All five runners ran a personal best for this course, cutting a combined 4 minutes and 42.2 seconds of off their times from August. Thank you everyone for the support all season long and to the Booster Club for the awesome race socks! It was a Great Day to be a Longhorn!
